1863 Liverpool Special (P6)

Image of 1863 Liverpool Special (P6)

The original interior bags had been replaced by wire baskets. The novelty of clearing the boxes drew large crowds and this concerned the Liverpool Postmaster because the mail was visible in the basket, making it more vulnerable. So he reinstated the 'bag' system and designed a new attractive postbox, which was built by Cochrane & Co. of Dudley.
Used in Liverpool only.
